Our Founders' Keepers -- Lessons on History and Character

"Our Founders' Keepers™" is a new standalone curriculum designed to supplement in-school lessons on American History.  Based on concepts introduced in SocialSmarts Exploring the Virtues™ series, Our Founders' Keepers provides biographical studies and stories about our nation's Founding Fathers, highlighting the virtues for which they were known and respected, and teaches an important history lesson at the same time.

Today, with the emphasis on test scores and academic achievement in the areas of reading, writing, math and science, American History is often put aside to focus on those things for which student achievement are assessed.  Our Founders' Keepers looks to fill that hole in student learning by providing quick, concise lessons for teachers to offer in their classrooms. Each core lesson is designed to take 20 minutes, but includes additional suggested activities and resources such as books, websites, and games teachers can use to expand on the core lessons as time and interest allows.

Some of the character studies featured in Our Founders' Keepers include:

  • George Washington
  • Thomas Jefferson
  • Thomas Paine
  • Benjamin Franklin
  • James Monroe
  • Samuel Adams
  • Patrick Henry

...and more.  Additional character studies series are being developed and will feature many other notable leaders in our American History, people who helped create and frame who we are in this country and what we stand for.

The first version of Our Founders' Keepers will be designed for Elementary/Primary grade levels. Lesson plans come complete with reproducible student pages for easy distribution within the class or school site.  Our Founders' Keepers will be available for general release in mid-April, 2010 at the cost of $129.  To reserve your advance copy, email us or call us at 425.485.4089.
