PoliteChild™ Founder and Program Director Corinne Gregory was interviewed today, October 28, 2002, on New York City radio stations WRTN-FM and WVOX-AM. Bill Mazer, a long-time icon of New York City radio, welcomed Corinne and asked her to describe The PoliteChild program to his New York listeners.
"We are a child education program that not only teaches the etiquette rules and actions, but we also focus on the basics about compassion, respect, and thinking of others," Corinne said.
When Bill Mazer asked about Corinne to compare Clark Gable ("Rhett Butler") and Leslie Howard ("Ashley Wilkes") in the movie Gone With the Wind, Corinne replied, "Leslie Howard may have had better manners but seemed to lacked courage, and Clarke Gable definitely had more courage but questionable behavior at times. I am certainly not in a position to judge who was the better person."
In closing, Corinne pointed out that The PoliteChild stresses proper behavior from the motivation perspective instead of just knowing which fork to use or how to curtsey. "You can be completely knowledgeable about the etiquette rules and behaviors, and yet be 'properly rude' " she indicates.
